Overlooking the legendary Pomerol plateau and the famed vineyards of its illustrious neighbour, Château Tournefeuille 2022 is a wine that captures both place and precision. Situated on a remarkable clay-gravel hillside in the village of Néac, the estate’s 18 hectares benefit from a mosaic of terroirs — south-facing clay slopes, gravel ridges, and clay-loam plateaus — each contributing depth, balance, and structure to the final blend.
Dominated by Merlot with a significant portion of Cabernet Franc, alongside small additions of Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, this Lalande-de-Pomerol reflects the estate’s commitment to sustainable and increasingly biodynamic farming. The fruit is hand-harvested, carefully sorted, and vinified plot by plot in thermoregulated concrete vats before undergoing fermentation and malolactic conversion partly in barrel.
Matured for 18 months in French oak (80% barrels, one-third new), the wine reveals layers of ripe plum, black cherry, and subtle spice, supported by fine-grained tannins and a beautifully poised structure. The clay soils lend richness and density, while the gravel components bring freshness and aromatic lift.
Elegant yet powerful, this is a Lalande-de-Pomerol with real pedigree, expressive now but capable of graceful evolution.
