Distilled at Ardmore Distillery on 1st January 2011, this single malt matured in a selection of second-fill Oloroso sherry butts before being bottled at 57.1% ABV (100 Proof). As with all releases in the series, it is presented with natural colour and without chill filtration, preserving its full body and complex character.
 
The refill sherry casks provide a subtle layer of dried fruit sweetness without overpowering Ardmore's naturally smoky spirit. Rich aromas of bonfire smoke, orchard fruits and barley sugar are lifted by delicate notes of candied citrus peel, while the palate delivers an impressive balance of gentle peat, baked apples, dried fruits, honeyed malt and warming spice.
 
The finish is long, smoky and satisfying, with lingering notes of soft oak, pepper, sweet malt and fading embers. This is a superb example of how restrained sherry maturation can enhance rather than dominate a peated Highland whisky.
