M. Chapoutier Schieferkopf Pinot Noir 2022 is an elegant and expressive Pinot Noir from the Alsace region of France, produced by the renowned M. Chapoutier winery from vineyards within the unique Schieferkopf estate.
The name Schieferkopf, meaning “slate hill," refers to the estate’s distinctive deep blue schist soils, a rare geological formation in Alsace. These soils provide excellent drainage and impart a delicate mineral character that complements the natural elegance of Pinot Noir.
The 2022 vintage produced a light and refined wine, showcasing freshness and aromatic purity. The grapes were fully destemmed and fermented using indigenous yeasts, followed by a three-week maceration to extract colour and structure while preserving finesse. The wine was then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, adding subtle complexity without overpowering the delicate fruit character.
The result is a beautifully balanced Pinot Noir that highlights the finesse and purity typical of Alsace reds.
