Concreto Malbec 2023 from Paraje Altamira in Argentina’s Uco Valley is a striking, terroir-driven Malbec that focuses on purity, freshness, and mineral expression. Crafted using minimal intervention techniques, this wine highlights the remarkable character of one of Mendoza’s most prestigious vineyard sites.
The vineyards of Paraje Altamira, located at the foothills of the Andes, are renowned for their unique soils composed of granite stones, gravel, and calcareous material, layered with sand and caliche. These complex soils contribute to the wine’s distinctive mineral profile and vibrant natural acidity.
The 2023 vintage was warm and exceptionally dry, producing healthy grapes with excellent concentration. Lower yields caused by spring frost resulted in fruit of outstanding quality. Careful vineyard management allowed precise harvest timing to preserve freshness while expressing the unique character of the vineyard.
The wine is fermented using native yeasts in concrete amphorae, with whole bunch fermentation enhancing aromatic complexity and structure. Ageing in concrete vessels further preserves the purity of the fruit and the mineral expression of the terroir.
The result is a refined Malbec with vibrant acidity, remarkable transparency, and layered aromatic complexity.
