From one of Beaune’s most distinguished Premier Cru sites, Domaine Chanson Beaune Grèves 2016 is a beautifully poised expression of Pinot Noir grown on the Mont Battois hillside. The vineyard’s name, Grèves, refers to its sandy and gravelly soils, which lend finesse, aromatic lift, and elegant structure to the wine.
Separated from the renowned Clos des Fèves by a narrow path, this 2-hectare parcel enjoys a privileged location facing Beaune, allowing optimal ripening. The 2016 vintage, shaped by a warm summer and timely rainfall, produced fruit of exceptional balance and concentration.
Whole-bunch fermentation lasting around two weeks enhances aromatic complexity and texture. The wine was then matured for 14–18 months in the estate’s historic 15th-century cellars, with moderate use of new oak to preserve the purity of fruit.
In the glass, it displays a bright ruby hue with delicate floral notes layered over red berry aromas and gentle spice. The palate is generous yet precise, offering fine tannins, subtle vanilla, and beautifully integrated oak. A refreshing, fruit-driven finish completes this elegant Premier Cru.
A classic Beaune — refined, expressive, and harmonious.
