Dr. H. Thanisch Pinot Noir 2018 is an elegant German Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) produced in the historic Mosel wine region, an area more commonly associated with Riesling but increasingly recognised for refined, mineral-driven Pinot Noir.
Crafted by the prestigious WWE. Dr. H. Thanisch Erben Müller-Burgraef estate, this wine comes from steep Mosel vineyards planted on slate soils, which impart a distinctive mineral freshness and precision to the fruit. The winery itself sits in a modern estate building overlooking the Mosel River, designed with subterranean cellars and gravity-fed winemaking to preserve the purity of the grapes.
The 2018 vintage was warm and dry across Germany, producing beautifully ripe fruit while maintaining the vibrant acidity that defines Mosel wines. These conditions allowed the Pinot Noir grapes to develop expressive aromatics and refined structure.
The steep slate vineyards encourage deep root systems and natural concentration in the grapes. This terroir-driven style results in a Pinot Noir that is delicate yet structured, with clarity of fruit and a signature mineral lift.
