The Edmeades story began in 1963 when Dr. Donald Edmeades planted vines in the cool coastal hills of Anderson Valley, becoming one of the pioneers of modern viticulture in the area. Today the winery continues its traditional philosophy of minimal intervention winemaking, using native yeast fermentations, open-top fermenters and gentle handling to allow the terroir to shine through.
 
The 2022 vintage opens with warm baking spice aromas of cinnamon and clove, followed by layers of blackberries, blackcurrants and subtle dried sage. On the palate the wine is rich and rounded, delivering lush dark fruit flavours supported by soft, integrated tannins and balanced acidity. A touch of oak ageing adds structure and depth while maintaining freshness on the finish.
