From the celebrated village of Meursault in the Côte de Beaune, Edmond Cornu & Fils Meursault 2023 is a beautifully poised expression of Chardonnay grown in the lieu-dit Les Corbins. This parcel sits on light, stony soils over rocky outcrops near Volnay Santenots, a terroir that delivers freshness, minerality, and depth.
The vines average around 40 years of age, with part of the plot dating back to 1968. Hand-harvested grapes are gently pressed upon arrival at the domaine. Fermentation begins without sulphur, preserving purity of fruit, before the wine is transferred mid-fermentation into French oak barrels (20% new) to complete the process. Ageing continues for 10–12 months in barrel, allowing complexity and texture to develop.
The 2023 vintage reveals a luminous golden hue. The nose offers delicate notes of butter and white flowers, layered with fresh orchard fruit. On the palate, it is complex yet vibrant, combining richness with lively acidity and mineral precision. The finish is fresh, elegant, and beautifully balanced.
A refined Meursault that will reward patience, developing further nuance over the next decade and beyond.
