A benchmark of Napa Valley sophistication, Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 captures the winery’s timeless philosophy of balance, refinement, and understated luxury. Founded in 1885 and meticulously restored in the late 20th century, Far Niente remains one of Napa’s most revered estates, producing wines of exceptional purity and elegance.
The fruit for this vintage comes from a mosaic of premium Napa Valley sites, including Oakville, Stags Leap, Calistoga, Yountville, and Diamond Mountain, each contributing complexity and depth. The Oakville estate vineyards, planted on gravelly loam soils, bring structure and supple tannins, while the region’s cooling fog and long growing season ensure freshness and precision.
Following careful selection and separate fermentation of each lot, the wine was aged for 17 months in French oak (62% new), allowing the blend to integrate beautifully while adding layers of spice and texture.
The 2018 vintage is widely regarded as one of Napa Valley’s finest, a near-perfect growing season produced small, intensely flavoured berries and exceptional balance. In the glass, the wine reveals aromas of dark plum, red cherry, and cassis intertwined with liquorice, black tea, and subtle toasted oak. The palate is plush yet structured, with fine tannins and a long, polished finish that lingers with elegance.
A refined, classic Napa Cabernet, powerful yet poised, luxurious yet restrained.
