Joseph Mellot La Grande Châtelaine Sancerre 2022 represents one of the finest expressions of Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc, crafted from the estate’s oldest vines planted in the renowned caillottes soils of the Loire Valley. These pebble-rich clay-limestone soils are prized for producing wines of remarkable finesse, minerality, and depth.
 
Low-yielding mature vines deliver fruit of exceptional concentration and aromatic intensity. The grapes are carefully pressed and fermented in French oak barrels, including a proportion of new oak, within the historic cellars of the Mellot family estate in Sancerre.
 
Following fermentation, the wine is aged on fine lees, adding texture and richness while preserving the signature freshness and mineral backbone of Sauvignon Blanc. Additional bottle ageing allows the wine to reach harmony before release.
