Steeped in centuries of Bordeaux heritage, La Réserve de Léoville Barton 2018 is the refined second wine of the historic Léoville Barton estate, whose story dates back to 1722 when Thomas Barton first established his legacy in the region. Today, the vineyards lie close to the Gironde estuary on classic Saint-Julien gravel soils over deep clay, producing wines known for structure, finesse, and longevity.
Made predominantly from Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and a touch of Cabernet Franc, the fruit is sourced from mature vines averaging 45 years old. Traditional vineyard practices, including high-density planting and careful manual work, ensure concentration and balance.
Fermentation and maceration are carried out with careful extraction, followed by malolactic conversion and 12 months ageing in French oak, giving the wine both depth and polish.
In the glass, it offers an expressive bouquet of forest berries, cedar, and subtle notes of coffee and vanilla spice. The palate is elegant and structured, with refined tannins and a long, classic finish, a beautifully balanced Saint-Julien that showcases the estate’s hallmark precision and poise.
A sophisticated and approachable expression of Léoville Barton’s timeless style.
