The Lochlea Red Wine Cask 2026 Release is the second chapter in Lochlea's annual Red Wine Cask series, showcasing the distillery's passion for exploring the influence of exceptional wine casks on its award-winning single estate spirit.
 
Crafted entirely at Lochlea Distillery, from barley grown on the estate to maturation and bottling on-site, this limited-edition release demonstrates Lochlea's commitment to provenance and innovation.
 
For the 2026 edition, Lochlea's whisky makers selected spirit initially matured in First-Fill Bourbon Barrels, before finishing it in carefully chosen Sangiovese Red Wine Casks. The influence of this celebrated Italian grape variety brings a vibrant layer of red fruit richness, enhancing the distillery's naturally sweet and elegant spirit.
 
The result is a beautifully balanced whisky offering notes of red berries, baked apples, honey and gentle spice, alongside a creamy texture and lingering nutty complexity. The finish delivers subtle oak, warming spice and a satisfying fruit-forward character that invites another sip.
 
Bottled at 46% ABV, with natural colour and non-chill filtration, this limited release captures both the freshness of Lochlea's spirit and the elegance of premium red wine maturation.
