From the southern edge of Burgundy in Chaintré, Domaine Perraton Frères Pouilly-Fuissé “Les Clos du Roy de Croix” 2023 is a beautifully sculpted Chardonnay shaped by two exceptional terroirs: Aux Murs, a southeast-facing limestone slope where roots dive deep through fissured rock, and Clos Reissier, contributing further depth and structure.
The estate, founded in 1970 and now run by Christophe and Franck Perraton, farms 12 hectares across the Mâconnais with sustainable practices close to agrobiology. Clay-limestone soils and careful vineyard management allow Chardonnay to express purity, finesse and site-specific character.
The 2023 vintage delivers layered aromatics of white flowers, gentle spice and ripe orchard fruit with a subtle toasted nuance. The palate is generous yet precise, fleshy and voluminous at first, then lifted by freshness and a distinctive saline, chiselled finish. A Pouilly-Fuissé that balances richness with mineral tension.
An excellent partner for chicken with chanterelles, Burgundy snails in parsley butter or grilled prawns flambéed with Cognac.
