From a tiny parcel in the southern sector of Nuits-Saint-Georges, Les Herbeux 2019 by Domaine Pierre Naigeon is a beautifully expressive Pinot Noir that captures both the intensity and elegance of this iconic Côte de Nuits appellation.
The Naigeon family has cultivated vines in Gevrey-Chambertin for over 150 years, and Pierre’s philosophy centres on organic farming and minimal-intervention winemaking. The fruit for this cuvée comes from a small plot of vines over 50 years old, rooted in a combination of white limestone and iron-rich clay soils, a terroir that delivers both mineral precision and depth of structure.
Fermented with indigenous yeasts in a gravity-fed winery, the wine is aged for 12 months in French oak (20% new) and bottled without fining or filtration, preserving its purity and texture.
The 2019 vintage offers aromatic intensity and balance, with lifted notes of wild red berries, spice, and subtle floral nuances. On the palate, it is opulent yet refined, showing layers of strawberry, vanilla, and liquorice framed by supple tannins and vibrant freshness. The finish is long, silky, and deeply satisfying.
A distinctive, sulphite-free Nuits-Saint-Georges — vibrant, expressive, and full of character.
