Although the distillery remains a closely guarded secret, the whisky unmistakably captures the essence of Islay. Initially matured in American oak barrels, it then spent over five years developing further complexity in a combination of bourbon barrels, toasted American oak barrels, Pedro Ximénez sherry butts and refill hogsheads. This diverse maturation creates remarkable depth while preserving the spirit's vibrant maritime character.
 
Bottled at 45.8% ABV, without chill filtration or added colouring, Port Askaig 8 Year Old delivers an authentic whisky experience. The nose opens with inviting aromas of vanilla, bright citrus and classic Islay peat smoke. The palate reveals layers of seagrass, mineral limestone, liquorice and rich earthy peat, with subtle sweetness from the oak adding balance. The finish is long, warming and beautifully smoky, leaving lingering coastal notes and gentle spice.
