Roda I Reserva 2019 is a powerful and elegant Rioja Alta Reserva produced by the acclaimed Bodegas Roda, located in the historic town of Haro, the heart of Rioja’s finest winemaking tradition. This exceptional wine represents the estate’s pursuit of depth, concentration, and balance through careful vineyard selection and meticulous winemaking.
The grapes for Roda I are sourced from 14 carefully selected vineyards composed of bush vines over 30 years old. These mature vines produce very low yields – around 1.5 kg per vine – allowing the grapes to achieve outstanding phenolic ripeness and concentration.
The 2019 vintage was characterised by warm conditions and an early harvest, with picking beginning on 4th September, the earliest harvest in the history of Bodegas Roda. Despite the challenges of frost earlier in the year, the vintage produced wines with remarkable concentration, structure, and depth.
Following fermentation, the wine was aged for 16 months in French oak barriques (50% new oak and 50% second-use barrels), followed by an additional 20 months of bottle ageing before release. This extended maturation allows the wine to develop complexity while preserving its vibrant fruit character.
