Tres Tribus Tobalá Mezcal is a remarkable expression crafted from one of Mexico’s most prized agave varieties. Named after the three tribes of Oaxaca, this mezcal pays tribute to the region’s deep-rooted traditions, culture, and artisanal spirit-making heritage.
Created by mezcal enthusiasts Juan Coronado and Juan Antonio Coronel, Tres Tribus focuses on preserving traditional methods while promoting sustainable production. The mezcal is made from wild Tobalá agave, a slow-growing plant that can take decades to mature in the mountainous landscapes of Oaxaca.
Once harvested, the agave hearts are slowly roasted for up to a week in underground earthen ovens fuelled by local oak, imparting a delicate smoky character. Natural fermentation follows in traditional clay vessels using wild yeast and local spring water before the spirit is double distilled in copper stills to achieve exceptional clarity and complexity.
The resulting mezcal is intensely expressive, offering a refined balance of fruit, floral notes, and gentle smoke that makes it highly sought after among mezcal enthusiasts and collectors.
