Yalumba The Cigar Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 is a powerful and elegant expression of Coonawarra, one of Australia’s most celebrated Cabernet Sauvignon regions. The wine takes its name from the legendary “Cigar” strip, a narrow band of rich terra rossa soil over limestone that runs through Coonawarra and produces some of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon in the world.
 
This iconic region benefits from a long, cool growing season, allowing grapes to ripen slowly and develop remarkable concentration while retaining freshness and structure. Yalumba’s Menzies Vineyard, established in 1975, sits at the heart of this unique terroir and provides the fruit that defines this classic Australian Cabernet.
 
The 2021 vintage followed excellent winter and spring rainfall that replenished the soils, while mild conditions during flowering ensured even fruit set. The lead-up to harvest was dry and gentle, allowing the grapes to develop vibrant flavour while maintaining natural acidity.
 
After fermentation, the wine was matured for 16 months in a complex mix of French, American, and Hungarian oak barrels, enhancing structure and adding subtle layers of spice and complexity.
 
The result is a beautifully structured Cabernet Sauvignon with intense dark fruit, floral aromatics, and fine tannins, delivering both immediate enjoyment and excellent ageing potential.
